Just wanted to share a few awesome resources that are available coming up. Hope you all are doing as well as can be.
Saturday October, 9 at 7:30pm EST, the incomparable Mariame Kaba will be discussing her book: We do this ‘til we free us: Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice through the Storytelling Sanctuary. Register here.
Wednesday, October 13 from 12pm - 2pm EST (but you can also watch it later!) my exceedingly warm and skilled friend Raina LeGrand (LMSW, MPH, CYT - pictured above) is co-facilitating a somatics workshop focused on intimate/romantic relationships: “Parts Work for People in Relationships”. This is a great opportunity to grow conflict skills in intimate relationships and do some healing work for yourself! I signed up. I think it’s going to be wonderful. Register here.
Tuesday, October 12 or November 18 from 3pm - 6pm ET Interrupting Criminalization is hosting a convening on alternative mental health crisis response. This is a phenomenal opportunity for folks working in abolitionist spaces related to emergency/crisis response and conflict intervention. See their report on the same subject here. Register here.
Starting Thursday, October 28th at 7pm EST and running weekly for four weeks, brilliant organizer Dean Spade will be hosting a series of workshops on building capacity for Mutual Aid Groups. Capacity concerns are a common source of conflict for mutual aid and other organizing groups. Register here.
Kai Cheng Thom has published a free workbook on Conflict Resolution—So You’re Ready to Choose Love: Trauma-informed Conflict Transformation for Social Justice & Spiritual Growth. It includes information about Transformative Justice as well as reflections on a variety of topics such as: What is Justice to me? Have I ever sacrificed my basic needs for others? Download it for free here.
I appreciate so much that you both share your own brilliant work and other resources that you find. So many people try to act like The One Expert on something, but it's so much better for everyone to share other peoples' work as well!
