6-Week Virtual Conflict Skills Course
The Conflict Infrastructure series will continue later this week! But for now…
A Big Announcement!
I’m very excited to share this opportunity with you all! I’ve had some sleepless nights developing this curriculum and can finally announce that it’s going to happen. I’m hoping this will be the platform around which we can build community and relationships, through interactive learning and reflection.
6-Week Virtual Conflict Skills Course
Six sessions facilitated by me (Luna), meets once per week, 90 minutes each session, sliding scale ($0 - $240 for the whole course).
You should sign up for this course if…
You want an anti-oppressive lens to understand conflict
You’re looking to better understand yourself within conflict
You want practical tools + skills for engaging in and responding to interpersonal and community-level conflicts
You’d like to share experiences, questions, and learning with others
We’ll cover…
Session 1: Introduction to understanding conflicts (what is conflict, what are the component parts of a conflict, how do they come together within social systems + structures)
Session 2 & 3: Conflict escalation + deescalation (what is escalation, how can we escalate and deescalate, in what situations does this make sense)
Session 4 & 5: Communication in conflict (what is communication in relation to conflict, how do we communicate, how can we be responsive to others’ communication styles/approaches)
Session 6: Putting it all together: mapping + setting goals (how can we better understand the conflicts in our lives, what can we do at all levels to engage in the ways we want to)
Will include…
Invitation to a slack channel for the current and future course cohorts!
Weekly “homework” (not graded, not checked, mostly reflection)
Two free follow-up sessions (at 3 months and 6 months) to reflect on how things are going
Opportunity to facilitate some of these components in your own communities
Date/time TBD: First course will be in mid-September to end of October, with the hope of holding the course again in winter and spring—depending on whether people sign up, are willing/able to pay for the time, and the feedback from the first course.
Sign up now to get the first notice of registration, sign up for free slots, and influence the timing.
